چکیده
ABSTRACT It is known that there a close relationship between pellet feed size and fish growth. However, the magnitude of this regarding an animals’ efficiency not yet clear. Therefore, present study conducted at Virginia Tech - Seafood Agricultural Research Extension Center (USA), investigated effects three different sizes, 1.7mm (EP.1), 2.3 mm (EP.2) 3.1 (EP.3), on growth Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) in recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Animals were farmed for 55 days 77.5-liter tanks (6 with initial density 3.78 g L⁻¹) weighing approximately 41.83±1.24g. The results showed during 8-week culture period, no significant differences animal’s final weight over sizes (EP.1 952.5±40.7g; EP.2 1014.5±26.6g; EP.3 1030.0±54.8g). biomass gain 704.0±34+.3g; 763.0±27.8g; -776.5±51.9g). Consequently, also found conversion factors.

The Effect of TLR9 Agonist CpG Oligodeoxynucleotides on the Intestinal Immune Response of Cobia (Rachycentron canadum)
Cytosine-guanine oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG ODN) motifs of bacterial DNA are recognized through toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) and are potent activators of innate immunity. However, the interaction between TLR9 and CpG ODN in aquatic species has not been well characterized. Hence, cobia TLR9 isoform B (RCTLR9B) was cloned and its expression and induction in intestine were investigated. RCTLR9B cDNA...
متن کاملAntioxidant effect of ascorbic acid on the quality of Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during frozen storage
The effect of aqueous solutions of ascorbic acid (AA) on the rancidity development in Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) fillets during frozen storage was studied. Cobia fillets were treated with ascorbic acid (AA 0.25% and AA 0.5%) then stored at -18°C up to 6 months. Rancidity development was measured by several biochemical indices including free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV), and thiobarb...

متن کاملA Case Study on the Mortality of Cobia (Rachycentron canadum) Cultured in Traditional Cages.
The mass mortality of cobia (Rachycentron canadum) within 2-3 days was reported by 3 private farms in Bukit Tambun, Pulau Pinang, in February and March 2007. Only cobia with body weights of 3-4 kg were affected. Most diseased cobia swam on the surface and displayed flashing behaviour. All samples were positive for viral nervous necrosis (VNN) with low to medium levels of infection. Infestations...
متن کاملCardio-respiratory function during exercise in the cobia, Rachycentron canadum: The impact of crude oil exposure.
Aerobic exercise capacity is dependent on the cardiorespiratory system's ability to supply oxygen at a rate that meets energetic demands. In teleost fish crude oil exposure, with the associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH's), reduces exercise performance and this has been hypothesized to be due to compromised cardiovascular function. In this study, we test this hypothesis by simultane...
